Recent Name Change
I recently changed my business name from Compassion Chiropractic to Mercy Chiropractic. Turns out there's another office over in Melbourne, FL called Compassionate Chiropractic, and patients kept showing up confused, calling the wrong number, and generally wondering which chiropractor they'd actually booked. Rather than spend the next decade explaining 'no, the other Compassion place,' I figured it was best to change the name to something that would keep our message consistent, while avoiding confusion. Let me know what you think.

About Mercy Chiropractic
About Mercy Chiropractic
Mercy Chiropractic is a donation-based chiropractic practice located in Palm Bay, Florida, founded on a simple but radical idea: quality healthcare shouldn't be out of reach for anyone. Led by Dr. Bill (James) Smith, the practice offers chiropractic adjustments and care on a pay-what-you-can basis, welcoming patients regardless of their financial situation.
Our Story
Mercy Chiropractic was originally known as Compassion Chiropractic. After patients repeatedly confused the practice with a similarly named office in nearby Melbourne, FL, Dr. Smith made the decision to rebrand. The new name, Mercy Chiropractic, reflects the same heart the practice was built on from day one — meeting people with grace and providing care freely, the way mercy is meant to be given.
Meet Dr. Smith
Dr. Bill Smith has been practicing chiropractic since 2007. His path to this work started long before chiropractic school, growing up as a missionary kid in the Philippines, where he witnessed firsthand the toll that extreme poverty and lack of access to quality healthcare take on families and communities. That experience shaped his life's mission: to provide excellent chiropractic care that is genuinely accessible to everyone, not just those who can afford a premium price tag.
Dr. Smith's approach to healing is rooted in his faith. He believes that the body has an incredible God-given capacity to heal itself when given the right tools and support — and that chiropractic care is one of those tools. This conviction shapes everything about how Mercy Chiropractic operates, from the donation-based pricing model to the warmth patients experience from the moment they walk through the door.
Outside the office, Dr. Smith and his wife, Lianne, are the proud parents of nine children. Family is at the center of their lives, and that same sense of family is something patients often say they feel the moment they step into the practice — less like a clinical appointment, more like being welcomed in by people who genuinely care.
What We Offer
Chiropractic care at Mercy Chiropractic is centered on aligning the spine and supporting the nervous system to help the body do what it was designed to do: heal. Patients come to the practice for a wide range of reasons, and regular adjustments can help with:
-
Relief from back pain, neck pain, and headaches
-
Improved mobility and range of motion
-
Better posture and spinal alignment
-
Reduced stress and tension held in the body
-
Enhanced athletic performance and recovery
-
An overall boost in energy and quality of life
Whether someone is dealing with a specific pain point or simply wants to support their long-term wellness, Dr. Smith takes the time to understand each patient's needs and provide care that actually helps — not a one-size-fits-all adjustment, but a plan built around the individual.
A Different Kind of Practice
What sets Mercy Chiropractic apart isn't just the care itself — it's the model behind it. Rather than charging set fees per visit, Mercy Chiropractic operates on a donation basis, allowing patients to pay what they're able. This means cost is never the reason someone goes without care they need. It's a practice built on trust: trust that people will give what they can, and trust that everyone deserves access to healing, regardless of their circumstances.
Walk-ins are always welcome, and no one is turned away. Whether you found Mercy Chiropractic through a search for a chiropractor in Palm Bay or were referred by a friend or family member, you can expect the same thing every time: genuine, unhurried care from someone who sees you as a person, not a transaction.
